We are seeking a UX Researcher on a contract basis to help support our customer’s business needs. This role is on-site in Redmond, WA.

As a UX Researcher, this role is responsible for uncovering user insights and feedback that inform early-stage research and advanced development, ensuring experiences are useful, usable, and desirable.

This position contributes to an ambitious initiative focused on AI-powered wearables, advancing next-generation communication and connection technologies. The role is well-suited for researchers with an interest in speech communication, human-AI interaction, and real-world product impact.

The UX Researcher will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including researchers and engineers, in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment to shape the future of AI wearables and next-generation audio experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct research to inform the development of AI wearable user experiences, with a focus on speech communication and human-AI interaction
  • Lead primarily quantitative UX research initiatives using lab-based experimentation, statistical analysis, surveys, and experimental design methodologies
  • Supplement quantitative research with qualitative methods, such as interviews and diary studies when appropriate
  • Evaluate and iterate on audio and communication features by analyzing user perception, interaction patterns, and behavioral outcomes
  • Translate research findings into clear, interpretable insights and actionable recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and UX teams to influence the development and integration of AI wearable solutions
  • Partner with other UX researchers to design research plans and studies aligned with product goals
  • Independently manage end-to-end research processes, including study design, data collection, statistical analysis, reporting, and knowledge documentation
  • Present findings and tailor communications to diverse stakeholder audiences

Skills And Qualifications

  • MA or MS in Cognitive Psychology, Linguistics, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related UX research field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience conducting applied research on consumer products in an industry setting
  • Strong foundation in mixed-methods research with emphasis on quantitative methodologies
  • Proficiency in experimental design, descriptive, and inferential statistics
  • Proficiency in statistical programming and data visualization using R or Python
  • Experience conducting lab-based perceptual or behavioral studies in speech communication or human-AI interaction domains
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams
  • Experience with qualitative research methods such as interviews, diary studies, or usability testing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Cognitive Psychology, Linguistics, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related UX field
  • 2+ years of experience conducting attitudinal or behavioral research with wearable technologies such as AI glasses, headphones, or smart watches
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization
  • Experience synthesizing qualitative insights to inform product direction
  • Experience working on speech communication research or applied voice AI systems
  • Prior experience in speech input systems, speech production research, or speech communication research
  • Ability to operate independently within speech, AI, and technology research contexts without extensive onboarding
